Monochrome Monday #53
on Dec 21, 2015In photography and in life, always look for the light -- if you don't see it, bring it... - John Waire
True words and especially when it comes to wildlife photography. We often leave for safaris early in the morning before the good light arises and are on safari long after its faded so in these times it is imperative to bring your own light with you in the form of spotlights, or speedlights if you have them. On that note, I have prepared for you an assortment of images this week that have a bit of both. I hope you enjoy this week’s selection of wildlife in monochrome.
A buffalo bull shakes off the oxpeckers tending to the ecto-parasites around his face.
A boisterous group of male giraffes escaping the heat of the day, but still insistent on fighting with one another.
An intense pose and look from one of the most beautiful male lions I have ever seen, even if he has a tooth hanging out the side of his face.
A very fat hyena leaving the coolness of a waterhole to seek shelter from the sun elsewhere.
A striking profile of one of the Southern Pride females.
Another image of the Southern Pride, but this time bathed in soft morning light while on the move.
The Lisbon female leopard doing what she does best...
A summer migrant to this part of the world, a Wahlberg’s Eagle, sits perched against a harsh sky.
The iconic African Wild Dog ever alert for the opportunity to grab a meal.
A queen around these parts, the Warthog Wallow female gets to the ready as a hyena approaches.
