A Year in Review at Sabi Sabi
on Dec 19, 2024As 2024 draws to a close, we pause to reflect on the incredible journey we've taken together at Sabi Sabi. Like the wild landscapes we call home, this year has been filled with breathtaking highs and deep valleys. We have faced moments of sorrow, losing members of our close-knit family, but we remain resilient, united by a shared purpose, driven by an inspiring leadership team, and supported by a spirit that mirrors the tenacity of nature itself. For this, the Loon Family and our Board of Directors extend our heartfelt gratitude to every individual who has been part of this remarkable safari.
First and foremost, we salute our unwavering staff. Your dedication, passion, and commitment are the very heartbeat of Sabi Sabi, much like the rhythm of the bush that sustains us all. Through your collective efforts, we continue to offer guests the chance to embark on unforgettable journeys into the heart of the wild. To our partners and guests, your trust in choosing us as your "home in bush" is a gift we treasure. Thank you for joining us on this adventure and allowing us to share the beauty and fragility of the environment we protect. Just as each animal in the bush has its place, so too do you hold a special place in our extended family. When you come as a guest of Sabi Sabi, you leave as a cherished member of our family.
This year has been a landmark one, as we continue to move forward with our "Explore to Grow" vision. Like explorers charting new territory in the wilderness, from exploration comes growth. Our initiatives, such as the Chef’s Training Academy, Ranger Academy, and Hospitality Academy, were born from this vision. These endeavours are vital in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow, building skills, and fostering a deep commitment to the communities that surround us. We are excited to see how these programmes will help shape the future of the Sabi Sabi Collection.
Our collaboration with Marula Wildlife Trust and Sandringham Private Game Reserve has also made significant strides this year. We are on track to break ground on the lodge in early 2025, continuing our mission to preserve and share the untamed beauty of the bush. In addition, we are in exclusive negotiations with the owner of a renowned boutique hotel in Cape Town, with the deal expected to conclude by February 2025.
Sustainability and conservation remain at the core of our mission. Just as the circle of life depends on balance, we believe in the interdependence of Community, Conservation, and Tourism. These principles guide every decision we make, ensuring that our role as custodians of this wilderness is one, we carry with the utmost care and responsibility. With the rehabilitation of Sandringham Private Game Reserve, we are excited about the potential to preserve this land for future generations and the wildlife that calls it home.
Looking ahead to 2025, we do so with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement for the adventures that await. We know there will be challenges along the way, but as in the wild, it is through unity and determination that we will achieve the impossible. Together, we are stronger, much like the herds that move together, supporting and protecting one another in the wild.
To every member of our Sabi Sabi Family – thank you for your dedication, trust, and "can do" spirit that drives us all forward. To our partners in the industry and our guests – past, present, and future – thank you for choosing Sabi Sabi and for being part of the story of success that we continue to write together.
To those working through the festive season, thank you for your sacrifice and commitment to the Sabi Sabi Family. For those taking a well-deserved break, we wish you a restful and joyful holiday season.
May your festive season be peaceful and full of joy and may 2025 be a year filled with growth, adventure, and the wild spirit of the safari.
Ubuntu – I am because we are. Stronger Together.
Cheers,
Sean Joubert – CEO – Sabi Sabi Collection
